At Grace, we have a simple yet significant pathway to church membership, which we prefer to call "partnership". When you become a partner at Grace you gain the privilege of service rather than the privilege of power. Partnership is about joining others in pursuing the mission and values of Jesus and his church.
STEP 1: The first step in the partnership process is taking our Partnership 101 Class, which is offered annually in the Fall (contact Pastor Trey for more info.) In that class we flesh out what partnership is, why partnership is important, and how one can become a partner.
STEP 2: The second step on the pathway to partnership is an informal conversation with an elder(s) to establish you have placed your personal faith in Jesus, to talk through Grace's doctrinal statement and constitution, and to answer any questions you may have.
STEP 3: The final step is setting an official partnership date when you will be presented before the church as official partners, as well as signing our partnership covenant. Our partnership covenant is below:
To become a partner/member of Grace Bible Church a person must demonstrate:
1) Saving faith: They must testify that they have trusted in Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and acknowledge that my salvation is by faith alone in his finished works.
"If you confess that Jesus is your Lord, and you believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
2) Doctrine: They must read the doctrinal statement and constitution of Grace Bible Church and be in total agreement.
"There is one Body and one Spirit...there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of us all...."
"Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints." Jude 3
3) Church Attendance: They pledge to be consistant as God's providence permits in the regular assemblies of the congregation for worship, prayer, and matters of church business.
"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrew 10:25
4) Spiritual Life: With God's help they will faithfully strive to grow spiritually. Which includes regular Bible study and prayer, witnessing to others, and submission to the disipline of church leaders.
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God." Colossians 3:16
